House Numbering
Imagine you have an emergency in your home. Would emergency personnel be able to find your house? The Police, Fire, and EMS workers who serve Tewksbury need your help to find you in your time of need.
Be sure your house numbers are visible. As per Township Ordinance 5-92, reflective or high-contrast numbers, at least 3" high, must be posted at the end of your driveway, and be clearly visible from either direction, on the road.
If you have a common driveway, please provide additional reflective 3" numbers where

Driving Safety
SHARE THE ROADS
Patience is a virtue when school is open. It is dangerous and illegal to pass school busses while they are loading and unloading children.
Please also remind your children that road-sharing rules call for people to walk
facing traffic, so they can see oncoming traffic. Bicycles, on the other hand, are considered vehicles and travel in the same direction as cars.
Both bicycles and pedestrians have the right of way over cars, but caution is still needed when sharing the road.
The speed limit in front of Old Turnpike School is 40
MPH, and changes to 25
MPH when the "25
MPH" sign lights are on. School is open - please Drive Carefully and courteously.
Domestic Violence Team
Northern Hunterdon County is looking for a few good volunteers for their Domestic Violence Crisis Intervention Team. Volunteers will respond to Tewksbury, Califon, Lebanon Twp., High Bridge, Clinton Twp., and Clinton Borough. Please phone Jean Marie DuHamel at the Tewksbury Township Police Department (439-3477)for more information. The next training session will be held in the near future, at Women's Crisis Services in Flemington.
Animal Control Services Available
As winter approaches, we will be faced with the struggle of keeping the outside outside, not only the cold weather, but small animals as well. St. Hubert's Giralda, the Township's Animal Control Service provider, is available to remove these animals for a fee. Small wildlife (squirrels, raccoons) that have gained access to your house, as well as stray cats living in garages, barns, brush piles, etc., will be removed with cage traps.
Unfortunately, all unfamiliar animals must be assumed potentially to be infected with rabies, and should be handled with care. For assistance, phone St. Hubert's directly at 908-526-3330.
Emergency Cell Phones Available
Do you fear being in an emergency situation and not being able to get access to police or rescue services? Are you a victim of domestic violence and fear no access to police when your partner is enraged and/or is stalking you? Cell phones coded with 9-1-1 are available to you.
If you are a disabled or senior citizen, or a domestic violence victim residing in Tewksbury, please contact Jean Marie DuHamel at police headquarters for more information. Telephone 439-3477 weekdays from 7:30
AM-3:00

Great Response to Cell Phone Collection
Tewksbury Township Police collected 170 pounds of used cell phones for the "Cell Phones for Soldiers" drive, and want to thank everyone who donated to this cause.
The Tewksbury Police is an official drop off site and will continue to collect cell phones while our troops are at war.
Cell Phones for Soldiers is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was started by two Norwell Massachusetts teenagers to help buy pre-paid calling cards to send to US service people serving over seas. Since April of 2004,
Cell Phones for Soldiers has raised close to one million dollars, and has sent more than 75,000 pre-paid calling cards to service people.
In addition to calling cards, Cell Phones for Soldiers is now sending video phones to units in the Middle East and to their home base as well, so families will be able to see each other as they talk. The phone and service are provided free to service people and their families.
The program accepts any model or make cell phone, as well as batteries and accessories. The phones are recycled for cash to purchase cards or unlimited free video phone calls. Cell phones may be dropped off at 167 Old Turnpike Road, between 7:30
AM–4:00
PM.
