Lazy Days of Summer?
Maybe so, but there are plenty of events in the offing. Check out some of these ideas:

First up in August, "A Farm Dinner" will benefit the Hunterdon Land Trust. The final two Music Under the Stars concerts at Deer Path Park, bracket the Anderson House Seafood Festival, on August 9th-10th. There are also County Park Programs for families, and the Tewksbury Historical Society will hold it's 14th Annual Flea Market at the end of the month.

Looking ahead to September, The Tewksbury Trail Pace will be held on the 7th, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon of North America (Forest #13) will host a Basket Bingo Benefit, and the Rotary Club of Flemington invites motorcycle entusiasts to its Ride for Rotary poker run.

This month's About Your Health column is on our "Environment/Health" page.

Our "Recycling" page has details on the Hunterdon County Hazardous Waste Day, and there's much more, all over the site!

Cub Scouts Help TTA
Members of the Tewksbury Trail Association (TTA) were recently joined by Cub Scouts from Tewksbury pack 199, den 10, to clear and mark trails, for their community service project. While clearing the brush and fallen branches from the bridle path, the boys enjoyed swinging on the hanging vines before cutting and removing them. They also built small jumps for horses from logs found in the woods, and marked the trail with directional arrows.

Completing the afternoon with donuts and Gatorade®, the landowners dog, Sophie, seemed to welcome the boys attention. These boys enjoy their soccer and softball as well as their riding lessons with the local equestrian training facilities.

Everyone had so much fun participating in the scouts’ community service project! The TTA looks forward to partnering up again with the scouts and other youth groups to work together and share in the beauty of this countryside we live in.

The Tewksbury Trail Association is an organization of equine enthusiasts who live or board their horses in the Tewksbury area. Thanks to hundreds of wonderful landowners, who grant the TTA permission to cross their property, we are privileged to enjoy the scenic beauty, riding along miles of beautifully groomed trails which the TTA members clear and maintain. For more information about the TTA, visit our web site.

Staying in Tewksbury
Following up on its March announcement, the volunteer group working to help Tewksbury’s seniors remain in their homes as long as possible is expanding its membership and creating plans to make this not-for-profit organization a reality.

Tentatively called “Staying in Tewksbury (SIT)” the goals of the group are to offer services such as transportation, social interaction, and assistance with ordinary tasks, so residents can enjoy their homes, friends, and familiar surroundings longer, and postpone the time when they must seek other living arrangements.

SIT plans to work with local and county senior programs, church outreach groups and other interested agencies to establish the program. It will also have its own employees and establish additional needed programs to make staying in Tewksbury enjoyable and age-friendly for our seniors.

More than 1700 Tewksbury residents over 60 have been identified, and a marketing program, a survey for seniors about perceived needs, and contacts with sponsors are in the works. Costs for participants and minimum membership levels are also being determined.

The founding members are eager to discuss the program with potential volunteers. Those interested please contact SIT’s secretary, Nancy Margenau.
